Department of Master of Business Administration

Overview

The Department has an independent state-of-the art campus with all modern facilities. It has eminent faculties with experimce and expertise in specialized areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Business Analytics and General Management. The Department has active MoUs with Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX, Mumbai) and Infinite Sum Modelling USA. VTU granted autonomous status to the MBA Programme in the year 2008 and it is a recognized Research Centre of VTU offering Ph.D programme. The Department has been recognised as Approved Training Institute in GST by National Academy of Customs, Indirect taxes & Narcotics (NACIN), Government of India.

Program Details

The Department of MBA, SIT was established in the year 1997. The Department with an intake of 120 offers Full-time Two years MBA programme spread across four semesters offering the specializations in the area of Finance, Marketing, Human Resource and Business Analytics. Industry oriented curriculum has been designed by gaining the insights from industry experts.

The Department research Centre has 04 research guides. 07 research scholar are awarded with Ph.D. and 12 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D.

  1. Dr. Preeti Desai completed the NPTEL online certification course on ‘Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Restructuring’ with a consolidated score of 64% during Feb-Apr 2024.

  2. Mr. Vivek G S completed the NPTEL online certification course on ‘Investment Management’ with a consolidated score of 79% during Feb-Apr 2024.

  3. Mrs. Aishwarya M R completed the NPTEL online certification course on ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Investments’ with a consolidated score of 75% during Jan-Apr 2024.

  4. Mr. Vivek G S attended refresher program on ‘Emerging Trends in Finance’ and secured A+ grade in the assessment organised by Faculty & Staff Development Centre in collaboration with Department of Finance & Law K J Somaiya Institute of Management from 20.06.2024 – 03.07.2024.

Industry Collaboration

  1. MoU between SIT-MBA and Om Shree Vaidyanatheshwaraya Namah Kashyapa Kutumbakam, Bengaluru (OSVNKK) was signed on 19.06.2024. Under this MoU, OSVNKK and SIT-MBA will conduct various GST training programmes for tax practitioners in India.

  2. Received All India Management Association (AIMBA) Institutional membership for one year from 01.03.2025 to 31.03.2026. Membership Number: CS-76.

  3. An industrial visit to Mumbai by fourth semester students (106) of MBA (2023-25 batch) during 23rd – 25th June, 2025. They had a wonderful time in the financial capital of the country. They could spend quality time at Jawaharlal Nehru Port and National Stock Exchange (NSE). The interactions with the officials at both these places were highly informative and enriching. Dr. Manu T U, Mr.Vivek G S, Mr. Shivaraddi Hosamani and Mrs. Soumya Harish accompanied the students. Eduventura (eduventura) managed the travel, stay and logistics very well.

  4. An industrial visit to TVS Electronics Limited, Tumakuru is arranged for all the I semester A Section students on 20.06.2025 and I semester B Section students on 23.06.2025. Dr. C Somashekar and Dr. Manu T U accompanied the students. 

Achievements & Recognition

LoU with NISM: The Institute signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) to strengthen academic-industry collaboration in the area of financial education and capital markets. The association aims to promote financial literacy, professional certification, faculty de-velopment, and student engagement through structured pro-grams, workshops, and other initiatives. This LoU marks an important step towards enhancing experiential learning and aligning management education with contemporary market practices.

The MBA Internship Program 2025 at Siddaganga Institute of Technology facilitated 109 student placements across 48 organizations, covering diverse sectors such as manufacturing, IT, healthcare, and consulting. Events:

  1. Orientation on Capstone Project-N4MBACP and Project Work-N4MBAPW for IV semester students was scheduled on 03.05.2024.

  2. An industrial visit to ACE Manufacturing Systems Limited, Bengaluru was arranged for all the I semester (2023-25 batch) A section students on 04.05.2024 and B Section students on 11.05.2024. 

  3. All MBA II year finance specialisation students were deputed to attend Bloomberg and NSE Smart Certification Program organised by IIM-B at IIM-B campus on 13th & 14th May 2024 and 16th & 17th May, 2024.

  4. A Hands-on Workshop- A thorough understanding and application of various statistical techniques using JMP software by Dr. Muralidhara A, JMP Global Academic, Bengaluru was arranged for all the IV semester students on 05.06.2024.

  5. Free orientation on PGCET / KMAT test and Mock test was organised in the Department on 08.06.2024. Around 160 MBA aspirants took part in the programme.

  6. All the HR specialisation (2022-24 batch) students attended workshop on Research Methods conducted by Behavioural Sciences Lab at IIMB on 01.07.2024.

  7. Halli-Habba was celebrated in the Department on 06.07.2024. All the II (2023-25 batch) and IV semester (2022-24 batch) students participated in the programme.

  8. Orientation on Project on Social and Rural Issues –N2MBAPS for II semester students (2023-25 batch) was held on 10.07.2024.

  9. National Level Management Fest ‘Ashwamedha-2024’ was held on 27.07.2024. Basavaraj I, Principal Director, LTI Mindtree Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru was invited as the chief guest of the programme. Dr. Shivakumaraiah, Joint Secretary, SSES, Tumakuru, SIT, Tumakuru and Dr. S V Dinesh, Principal, SIT, Tumakuru were the guests of honour. About 100 students from various B-Schools of Karnataka have participated in the events and have won the prizes.

  10. An industrial visit to Mumbai by fourth semester students (67) of MBA (2022-24 batch) during 6th – 8th August, 2024. They had a wonderful time in the financial capital of the country. They could spend quality time at Jawaharlal Nehru Port and National Stock Exchange (NSE). The interactions with the officials at both these places were highly informative and enriching.   11. Farewell for outgoing IV semester MBA students (2022-2024 batch) was celebrated on 30.08.2024. 

  12. Inauguration and Orientation for I Year (2024-2026 Batch) students was organised from 19th – 21st December 2024. The programme was inaugurated with the Divine Blessings of Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu and Sree Sree Siddalinga Swamigalu, President, SSES. Mr. Joyal George, DVP and Regional Head, The Federal Bank Ltd., Bengaluru and Mr. Krupesh Bhat Founder & CEO, Sign Desk, Bengaluru were invited as the Chief Guests for the inaugural programme. Dr. Shivakumaraiah, CEO, SIT, Dr. S V Dinesh, Principal, SIT were present on the occasion. The following industry professionals were invited to deliver lectures on various themes during the two day orientation programme.

  15. Business Model Canvas Activity was organised as part of the course Essentials of Entrepreneurship-N1MBA07 for I semester students (2024-26 batch) on 05.02.2025.

  16. A visit to Siddaganga-TBI was arranged for I year Section B students (2024-26 batch) on 25.02.2025.

  17. As part of Marketing Club-BUZZ, Quiz-O-Grand business quiz final round was held on 18.03.2025.

  18. One-day Free Orientation on PGCET / K-MAT for MBA aspirants was held on 31.05.2025. Around 30 MBA aspirants participated in the programme.
