B.E. degree course in Instrumentation Technology was started in our institute during the year 1979. Enabled by well qualified & committed staff, the department of Instrumentation has been continuously working for the cause of producing engineers, who can make a difference. Students of the department have secured university ranks every year. and more than 70 % of the students are getting placed on campus.
The department motivated with the recognition by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) as a research centre, has been constantly exploring various avenues to strengthen its efforts of building quality research facilities.
Subjects offered for the degree course encompass a variety of areas in order to meet the growing needs of the industries. Sensors, Advanced instrumentation both conventional and Virtual, Analog & Digital electronics, Microcontrollers, Signal processing, Control systems, Programming Languages are a few to name.

To become a premier Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department by imparting quality education in the field of Electronics, Instrumentation and advanced technologies to the students with a augmented focus on research in cutting edge technologies leading to innovation so as to cater to the needs of industries and society.

The Department is committed to develop competent professionals by offering need based curriculum in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering areas, promoting research and innovation to prepare the students for higher study, life-long learning and societal responsibility. The department is committed to provide good learning environment to develop professional ethics and skills in our students, to provide engineering service to the society.

Program outcomes
  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Activities conducted under the above chapter during 2017-18 National Symposium - iACT 2018 conducted on 25.02.2018 Technical Quiz, Paper Presentation, Robo Rash and Project Exhibition competitions were conducted and 95 students from nine colleges in and around Karnataka were participated.
Exhibited the Project "Attendant Robot for Bed Ridden Patients" in the Project Exhibition Anveshana organized by Agasthya Foundations and Synopsis, Bangalore and National Science day exhibition organized by KSCST, held at IISc, Bangalore.
IEEE ENGINEERING IN MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY SOCIETY (IEEE-EMBS)TUMAKURU STUDENT CHAPTER.
ACTIVITIES: Visit arranged to NIMHANS Bangalore on the occasion of National Science day which observed the display of various Biomedical instruments. A guest Lecture was arranged by Dr.N Sriram, Professor & Head, Department of Medical Electronics, MSRIT, Bangalore on thy topic 'Engineering in Medicine and biology: Scope and Challenges.
